Name: Nicholas Eli Velasquez
Nicknames: Nick
Age: 25
Blood: Halfblood
Appearance:
- Tall, tan, ripped.
- Dark brown hair and eyes.
Personality:
- Salt-of-the-earth, working-class tough guy.
- He's generally pretty okay to get along with, and enjoys drinking/poker/hanging out as much as the next dude.
- It takes him some time to loosen up around new people, but he can be really rowdy and fun in the right situation.
- Nick tends to be fairly stoic, a man of few words. If he's suffering in any way, he'd sooner die than -- God forbid -- tell anyone about it.
- He's not all that smooth or great with ~the ladies~. He tends to come off as a little gruff, possibly uncomfortable.
- Nick has simple, practical tastes. Functionality is more important to him than style or grace.
- He's not the most intellectual or bookish of guys, and his inarticulate use of language often makes him seem like kind of a meathead. Nick is, however, very quick-thinking and particularly talented in mathematics.
Background:
- Grew up in South Central Los Angeles, California. His family is originally from Mexico.
- Oldest child, raised primarily by his mother and grandmother. His mother was a nurse who worked most of the time, so Nick ended up looking after his younger brothers all throughout school. He's closest to his 21-year-old brother Danny.
- Married his childhood sweetheart, Naomi, when they were both eighteen. He'll be the first to tell you that it was a fairly stupid idea.
- As an adult, Nick quickly became an accomplished young Auror based out of his native LA.
- He moved to London after finding out that his wife was having an affair (and the subsequent divorce), searching for a drastic change of scenery to help him gain some perspective and get back on his feet. He had every intention of just screwing around for a little while and maybe "finding himself" in the process, but ended up taking a job at the Ministry -- continuing his career as an Auror, and settling into his new-found home.
- He shares a flat with Amanda Newman, a friend from California who kindly offered him a place to stay. They live on Diagon Alley, right above Flourish & Blotts.
Other:
- Enjoys surfing, and played pretty seriously on baseball teams when he was younger. He's constantly trying to get his friends interested in the sport, to no avail.
