Name: Heath Mason Ainsley
Nicknames: Heathcliff (he has been called a lot of things in his lifetime, where do you think Wuthering Heights came from)
Age: appears 23
Blood: Half-blood (vampire)
Appearance: Heath has curly brown hair, usually sports a scruffy beard, and dark jewel green-blue eyes. Being eternally set in your twenties has its advantages and its disadvantages. Primarily why he sports a beard most days, other than simply being lazy, is because it makes him look a bit older.
Personality: Silent, angry, brooding, mysterious, “…a possible psychopath but you wouldn’t know it under the guise of his charming chivalry,” is generally the impression one gets of Heath after befriending him for quite some time. He isn’t really a psychopath, more of an irreverent, reticent, realist (or that’s what he calls himself) seething with self-loathing, misanthropy and confidence. He is seen as quite laid-back and sometimes a bit lazy. He effortlessly epitomises cool.
Heath is not your typical tall, dark, and handsome, Byronic hero type. Rather than having an underlying sense of heroism is a bundle of nerves that one can easily strike at any given moment. He does want to save others, but mostly from himself. He has a tendency to want to help others like him so that they don’t make the same mistakes he has made. This help generally comes in a harsh and sometimes cruel form. He rarely ever mollifies his words or the truth to make it more palatable.
He is difficult, and takes offense if others offer him help or friendship, unless he’s decided you are worth taking the time to be his friend. This gives him as many friends as he can count on one hand. It also makes him protective of the friends he has, somewhat. If in terrible danger he will drop everything to help them but generally couldn’t be bothered if it isn’t a life or death situation, this is probably why no one sees him as an antihero. That being said he is seen as a sort of alpha male type character, and his friends look to him to be solid as a rock.
A very complex and troubled character he surrounds himself with friends who are content with who they are, as a person his best mates are fairly sure of who they are and happy with it, and even when he pretends to hate it or complain about how annoyingly bubbly his friends are, and tells them to bugger off that’s the part about them that he likes. Heath on the other hand is like the American pancake, he’s quite sweet and lovely but a bit bad for you. He can be a complete and utter bastard sometimes, callous and seemingly unfeeling. That being said he has lovely manners and etiquette that gives him an almost Victorian element, like not entering a place without behind invited, opening a door for a lady that sort of thing.
Background: Born to Katherine Mason daughter of a long line of Mason’s with a rather wealthy estate to her name married the honorable Lord Marcus Ainsley of Scotland. They married and moved to the English Countryside. Heath grew up happily with his younger brother Edward. Both wizards the family were very good at keeping their powers secret, thinking it a curse on the Mason name, seeing as his father Marcus was a muggle. When he reached the age of 16 he fell in love with a beautiful woman, she was breathtaking, and his brother Edward fell for her as well, little did they know that she was a vampire. She found their wizarding powers useful and so introduced them to Salazar Slytherin and the others who would soon come to create the Head of Houses at Hogwarts. Heath became a scholar and tried to learn everything he could from Salazar Slytherin, and the others. When he was 23 after seven years, he returned home to his family. There had been some talk of monsters in the dark, and after all the reading and learning he had done Heath suspected it was vampires they spoke of. That night Edward was willingly turned by Elizabeth, the vampire both brothers had fallen in love with, Heath refused and tried to protect his family and the other villagers from her and the others but he lost. Heath woke up amongst his relatives, all of them deceased lost and confused.
Heath Ainsley is some 900 years old. No one truly knows how old he is and to be honest Heath has tried to forget himself. He has made friends with a werewolf named Ben and they live in a house together with a bunch of misfits namely Sam, Mason, and Kevin.
Characteristics: More than most, Heath tries to keep a low profile. He stays out of trouble, keeps his head down, and doesn’t do anything out of the ordinary or anything that might get his picture in the Daily Prophet and someone somewhere connects him to that guy Heath from ages ago.
The nature of his job is a tad off putting, but perhaps not as off-putting as what he is. Understandably Heath keeps himself to himself and dislikes talking about his life or himself. Most would call him broody but really he is just careful. He is very slow to trust and doesn’t make friends easily for this very reason.
Other: He has been bitten countless times by numerous animals but likes them better than most people, people tend to ask questions. He tends to walk, apparate or drive the shitty car he owns with his mates to work.
