The conversation that night still rung repeatedly in the back of his head, as much as he tried to put it behind him and deal with uncomfortable things as he usually did - by running away from them. "Ror, I thought you were gay but just not comfortable admitting it to yourself. Come on, I mean, I've never seen you seriously with a girl for any length of time. Name one girl you've ever payed the blindest bit of attention to," Olivia said challengingly, a look in her eye that suggested she thought she'd 'won'. Rory had merely looked at her in disbelief, even shooting a look at Hannah who looked equally dumbfounded that her flatmate hadn't worked out what practically the rest of the world had at this point. He shook his head, "Suppose you're right there. But I actually have paid attention to someone, to one girl, for practically my whole life, and she's the best girl as far as I'm concerned. That's why you've never seen me with someone else," he finished, already deciding he shouldn't have opened his mouth at all, and quickly looking at the kids, "Uncle Rory's off guys, sorry, don't run rings around these two, will you?" he half-joked as he quickly grabbed his coat and without being quite able to meet Olivia's eyes, left without another word. He'd leave her to work out what he meant. I mean it's not like she'd had 20 years to work it out yet failed to do so.
True to his usual coping strategy, Rory had avoided both Olivia and Hannah since that night. He'd taken on as many shifts as possible at Mungo's and even been transferred to the children's ward once more to ensure he'd be unlikely to accidentally run into Liv. Yes he was a coward who hid from her; he just didn't think he could handle being rejected by the woman he adored, he'd rather spend his life pining after her than hear her rebuff him, hence why he avoided her now. This on his mind that day, Rory dumped his bag in his locker and shrugged off his jacket, hanging it up inside. Shutting the locker he sighed and rested back against it for a minute, closing his eyes to get his mind together. He had arrived half an hour early for his morning shift in the hope of having time to clear his head with a nice cup of tea before diving into a busy day on the ward.
((ooc: Anyone wanna join him in the Mungo's staff room? Cara, Lia, hope what I said about the remainder of the babysitting scene was okay seeing as how we haven't 'finished' it so to speak.))

Seeing Rory stood with his back against his locker, Rose walked over to him and moved her face close to his so he'd see nothing but her face when he opened his eyes. "Whatcah doing?" she asked in a silly voice, the one her sister always used and smiled at him before raising an eyebrow, moving away from him and crossing her arms over her chest.
"You've been doing a lot of shifts, you've moved wards, you're not your usual self. Spill it, or I'll...." she made a threatening hand movement & gave hima serious look. Rose didnt like to see her colleagues unhappy, especially not when she herself was so happy. (ooc. Hope Rose is ok)

As he heard a familiar voice rather close to him, Rory opened his eyes only to find Rose's grinning face mere inches from his own. "Jesus!" he let out in a sort of strangled yelp of surprise as he clutched a hand to his chest, "Were you trying to give me a heart attack or-?" he asked, jokingly, as his lips twitched into a small smile when she retreated and his heart rate slowed once more after its sudden spike due to Rose's surprise.
Making sure his locker was closed to he stepped away from it and crossed to the small kitchen area of the staff room. "Ouch, are you saying I don't usually have such a strong work ethic? I resent that, Turner," Rory joked easily as he reached for his usual mug and grabbed a tea bag from the communal supply. "I just missed the kids' ward, it was the first place I worked after I became a nurse and I asked if I could go back there, temporarily. Cuppa?" he offered out of habit. However distracted by the process of making a brew, Rory's face still fell perceptibly as she pressed him for an answer and she seemed to mean business, if her stance was anything to go by. Turning back to face her he held his hands up in front of him as though in defence, "I'm fine. Okay, well I'm not... but it's not exactly something huge enough to worry other people with, there are far more pressing matters in the world than the depressing saga that is my personal problems. Look it's my own stupid dilemma, I need to 'cope with it' the way I know how- by avoiding it and filling my time with work. We all do it," he pointed out with a tight, knowing smile.
"Anyway, how's your life going? How's soon-to-be-Mr Turner?" he asked lightly in, yes, a rather feeble attempt to shift the conversation to her own life but he was genuinely happy for Rose and Geoff and he liked to see people settled together and happy.
((ooc: She's great, thanksss Telle!))

"Your work ethic...dont get me statred on it" she snorted, before nodding her head, "Milk, no sugar. Im trying to cut down, wedding dress.." she laughed in reply, patting her stomach with her hand, they hadnt set a date for their wedding but she had been secretly planning what she could, visiting venues & trying on dresses and the such.
Studying his face as he busied himself with making them tea, Rose could see the change in his expression and frowned to herself before shaking her head, "Woah woah woah, no. No. You are not blowing ME off with your excuses, King! I am your mentor, I am here for you to talk to about your problems and what's worrying you and I am not going to let YOU stop ME from doing MY job!" she shook her head and grabbed his hand, dragging him to an armchair before pushing him in to it.
"Her name, what is it? Or his, I dont judge" she held her hands up defensively, before looking at him sternly awaiting his explanation.
(ooc. I figured Rose would be able to read people & be a bit perceptive?)

((ooc: Of course! And Rory's prob terrible at hiding his feelings, prob looks guilty constantly!))
"What?" he asked in genuine confusion about his work ethic before he shrugged it off and turned to grab her a cup too. Rory busied himself with pouring their cuppas out but chuckled, "You don't need to cut down, Rosie, you're beautiful as you are," he said simply as he threw away their teabags and added the milk. Interrupted by Rose's well-meaning refusal to be blown off, Rory barely had time to finish stirring the teas before she grabbed his hand and dragged him to an armchair. "Hey, hey, hey!" he protested, redundantly, as he knew if he tried to lie or slip away from her she'd just push him right back into that chair. Rory shook his head and then couldn't help it; he threw his hands up in exasperation as she said 'or his', "That! That right there is the issue," he exclaimed, his voice raising an octave due to the exasperation he felt.
He sighed slightly and smiled tightly, "Sorry," he apologised for his slight outburst, "It's Olivia, always is. I've known her for years, since we were... young, for so long. And she thought I was gay. I mean, do I seem gay to you? Not that it's a bad thing, of course not, but I'm not gay and I assumed her, of all people, who grew up with me and sees me practically every day would know me enough to know that."
He raised his wand and summoned their cups of tea over, catching his and wrapping both hands around it for warmth as he pulled up his legs to sit cross-legged on the armchair. "Okay, so, she thought I was gay because she'd never seen me with any girl for any length of time. I mean, sure, I've had girlfriends but no serious ones, not really. And I thought the reason for that was blindingly obvious to... well practically everyone. Everyone but her apparently. It's because I love her, simple as that, have done for years and she's the only girl I've ever paid attention to because in my crazy brain she's the only girl in the world who I've ever felt like that about." He shook his head, "When she said she thought I was gay I was taken aback so I pointed out that I had paid attention to a girl... and then I got embarrassed and I left and... and I haven't seen her since so I don't know if the penny dropped or not. Yes, I'm a terrible person for avoiding her I know," Rory concluded sheepishly.

Opening her mouth to talk, Rose quickly shut it again as Rory began to talk, her face showing how bad she felt for assuming he was gay, but like he said she'd never even seen him looking at a girl & she always just 'assumed'.
"You dont seem anything..." she shrugged as she took her cup of tea, blowing it then sipping it as she nodded her head, to show she was listening to him as he spoke. As he admitted that he loved Olivia, Rose let out a small noise that one would normally associate with baby kittens. "You silly boy! You need to tell her, you dont run away...you tell her it's her that you love and you grab her face, and kiss her then you take her to the bed and..." Rose stopped herself just in time, her cheeks tinging pink as she realised what she was saying. "You need to talk to her, she hasnt realised its her and thinks that she's offended you greatly and that you're angry with her. You want her to feel like that?" she asked him tenderly, her hand touching his briefly before she moved it away.

Rory couldn't help but laugh dryly at her words, "I don't 'seem anything'? Gee, thanks for that," he joked sarcastically with her as he blew on his cup of tea to cool it slightly. "No, but fair enough you thinking I could be gay, I mean we work together but it's not like you grew up with me like she did," he explained with a shrug of his shoulders, "I've had girlfriends just not... I don't know, I guess I didn't parade them around enough if people thought I was same-sex orientated, huh?"
Then he flinched visibly as Rose made an excited noise when he said he loved Olivia and proceeded to look distinctly uncomfortable at her encouragement, choosing to cautiously sip his tea to give him time to pretend not to be so freaked out by someone else knowing how he really felt. "I've uh never really been one for... grabbing faces and taking people to bed like that," Rory countered and smiled shyly at her. "Wait, she thinks I'm angry with her?! How do you know that, did she say she was, did she seem pissed off at work?" he asked suddenly, worry showing in his entire expression, before he slumped back intot he chair defeatedly. "I just want her to be happy, that's all I've ever wanted. But I... I daren't tell her... it's creepy you know, to be like 'turns out I love you, Liv'. Maybe in some ways it was good the penny was in the air and I left, on some level? Look I just... I don't think I could handle her rejecting me outright, I don't think I could handle her looking at me and saying 'aww that's cute, that's nice but Rory, I've never thought about you like that and never will'. That might just kill me."
He paused, taking a sip of tea and then adding, "At least this way I have my own demented fantasies about the possibility of her liking me but just never saying it because I hadn't," he mused with a certain, knowing look as he nodded authoritatively as if to say that was that and it really was the best idea he'd ever had. Then, he looked crestfallen, "What I said just then is a load of crap, isn't it?" he asked her, already knowing the answer was a 'yes'.

Rose looked down at her cup of tea, her cheeks tinging pink as Rory made a sarcastic comment. She hadnt meant to offend him, she wasnt always the most tactful of people, though she did generally mean well.
Smiling softly at his questions, Rose tapped her nose with a little wink, "Im not telling you a thing. If you want to know how Liv is then you'll talk to her....seemples, tch" Rose shrugged her shoulders, she was generally the nice girl & would help anyone out but she didnt feel that helping Rory to avoid Olivia was helpful to his situation at all & hoped that he saw this from her point of view. "I've only known Olivia for a fraction of the time you've known her but even I know she wouldnt reject you outright. She'd give you a chance, you just have to let her get her head around the idea. She's thought of you as just a friend for years, it's a bit of a shift to suddenly be presented with this fine specimen of man that she can actually date now" Rose tilted her head to the side before reaching out & touching Rory's face softly.
"Biggest load of crap, ever" she smiled with a soft laugh, "You gotta talk to her, do you really want to live your life thinking 'What if I told her?' & being just friends? Or do you want to tell her, and then possibly be with her?" she asked him, holding his hand in hers.
(ooc. Sorry if she makes no sense, lol)

"Oh come on, please Rose?" Rory pleaded, starting forward towards her with a hopeful look, one which soon faded as Rose said she'd tell him nothing. He slumped back against the armchair, "B-b-but Roseeee it's scary," he whined overly dramatically before smiling shyly, "I see why you're doing this. And though I may whine, I'm only joking, I know you're doing it for my own good. I need to stop being so shy, so lacking in any kind of self-confidence, simply put I need to 'man up', right?"
"You really think so?" Rory said quietly and then became more subdued as he took in what she was saying, nodding slowly as he realised she was right about Olivia probably needing time to get her head around his sudden admission of his real feelings towards her. Then he couldn't help but laugh with a shake of his head, "No one has ever called me a 'fine specimen of man', I don't think the phrase really fits me," he commented, good-naturedly enough but he genuinely didn't really believe anyone could be so complimentary, even if when trying to make him feel better about himself.
Rory shrugged, "Yeah, I know, I kinda hoped it wouldn't be so but, yes, I'm talking crap I know." Looking at his cup of tea for a second as he considered the blonde's words, "Mmm I dunno, I... I'm the kind of person who is pretty content with his life however it's going. I've never been one to 'aim for the stars' but... I don't know, I sort of pictured eventually ending up with Olivia and maybe, I don't know, us getting a little cosy house together somewhere and maybe a cat or... a couple of kids," he admitted sheepishly before adding, "I'm aware that's a bit creepy, in my defence I've had like 15 years for my brain to dwell on this stuff. But maybe her knowing how I feel is a step in the right direction?" Rory hoped aloud, gently squeezing her hand, "Thanks Rose, I really appreciate it."

Rose simply nodded her head once, "Man up, cupcake!" she laughed before slapping at his hand with a stern look on her face, "You ARE a fine specimen of a man and I wont hear you saying otherwise. You're attractive, you're a great guy and if I hadnt thought you were gay, I probably would have gone out with you if you'd ever asked" she shrugged her shoulders, not caring that she was probably embarrassing the guy but before Rose settled down with Geoff, she had dated a load of guys.
"A little creepy? Jeez dude, Im sending Liv a note straight away to warn her away from you & your stalker tendencies..." Rose deadpanned before smiling to show she was infact, kidding. "I started thinking like that the night I met Geoff, imagining me & him with his cat & me all pregnant.." she blushed slightly before holding her fist up to him, "Tell anyone & I'll kill you" she chuckled, standing up to hug Rory tightly, "Dont thank me, thats what friends are for" she smiled at him before sitting back down, "So....lets plan your wedding..." she joked, pulling a stack of wedding magazines from her bag.
(ooc. SORRY I TOOK FOREVER!! And sorry she's less than good.)

Rory laughed, "Inspirational words from the brilliant Ms Turner," he joked easily and then pretended to look scandalised as she slapped at his hand and told him off for saying he wasn't exactly a 'fine specimen of a man'. "Rose, I long ago made my peace with the fact that Brad Pitt and I, or insert alternative appropriately attractive male, share no resemblance," he assured her faux-seriously. "Seriously? Look, you don't need to say that to make me feel better but... thanks," he grinned, "If it helps, I cook, that's gotta give me some points surely? Though I should probably work on not giving off a gay vibe."
He coloured immediately, despite the fact she was obviously kidding, but smiled shyly when she talked of Geoff, "That's a nice picture," he encouraged before nodding, "Oh don't worry, from one stalker and fantasiser to another, I can keep it schtum. Besides, I have a cat too, I'm trying to work him into the equation, maybe you can give me some advice on that?" he suggested with a light edge to his voice as he reciprocated her hug, truly grateful for how she always managed to cheer people up and help them when they needed a pep talk.
Taking a sip of tea then, Rory shook his head, "Let's not get too ahead of ourselves and jinx it, huh? How about we do something more productive and plan a wedding that actually is existent and firmly on the cards..." he smiled, "Have you and Geoff set a date yet?"
((ooc: Nooo, she was great, I love Rose! :) ))

Radhika rushed into the hospital just in time to have her coffee and scarf down something resembling breakfast before her shift. Ever since Jai had gotten out of school for the summer, Radhika's schedule had been twice as hectic. She'd only just managed to drop him off at her sister Deepa's while scolding him for sneaking out to go to a party. He'd just recently become a teenager, and while he was his mother's child through and through, she didn't feel quite ready to enter into the phase where he acted out and they argued and he started to pull away.
"Rory! Where've you been, man, I haven't talked to you in ages!" she greeted Rory while giving him a one-armed hug. She spotted the wedding magazines and quickly shuffled over next to Rose, unable to resist. "When do you want to go look at dresses, Rosie? Now... you're my best friend in the world, but if you make me wear something hideous, I will end you," she warned jokingly.
