Are you new to Role playing? It's ok, we all were even though some of us -points to self- don't want to admit it.
In this forum we Role play in third person, bold and italics can be used for emphasis on particular words, and a lot of the time italics are used for written things such as letters, and also thoughts. But you figure out which by the context of the post.
In the example below I will try to use all the above so you get more of a feel of what I am talking about.

Rona grinned, she couldn't help it, this was her final year at the bloody school. But her grin soon faded as she remembered her falling grades. Those will always look nice when I apply for a job she though sarcastically to herself. She ran a hand through her fine black hair and let out a sigh. She knew the ride would be long, the train hadn't even started up yet and she already wanted to get off. Digging through her bag she tried to find something to occupy her. Her eyes fell upon a piece of parchment, quill, and bottle of ink. Shrugging, she grabbed them and prepared to write a letter to her friend Josiah back home.
Dear Jo,
I wish you were here, nothing was ever the same since...
But before diving too deeply into her letter she was rudely interrupted by a first year who looked to have some mental disorder. But then again, all first years looked like they had mental disorders.
"What do you want?" Rona said disgust ringing in her voice.
