Status: "Harry Armitage is celebrating his last day of being 41. Joy, I tell thee."
Sex: male
Birthday: 22nd August 1968
Family:
Celia O'Connor (sister)
Shannon Walsh (sister)
Alistair Armitage (brother)
Daniel Barnes (son)
Rachael Barnes (daughter)
Katie Barnes (daughter)
Hometown: Derbyshire
Current City: Edinburgh
Relationship Status: Married to Rebecca Barnes
Political Views: Politicians=corrupt, why would I trust any of them?
Religious Views: Raised Christian but deeply skeptical of any religion nowadays
Activities: father-ing (yes I know, you may scoff), potions-making, chemistry-studying, repenting for the crap I did when younger, turning my daughter Katie into a 'Daddy's girl', alternating between utter adoration and resentment of a new baby what with his choosing of inopportune moments to cry
Interests: potions, chemistry, magic (is that enough?)
Music: The bands I listened to 'growing up' (how much maturing was done during that time is up for debate however) included: The Jam, Buzzcocks, The Clash, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Queen, The Who, Boston, Madness, The Stone Roses. Over time the following have also been added to my list of 'I actually don't want to gouge my ears out while listening to this music': Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Hard-Fi, Radiohead, Muse, Oasis, Stereophonics, The Libertines, Babyshambles, The Hives, The Enemy, Editors, Kasabian, Klaxons, Kings of Leon, The Killers, Coldplay, Snow Patrol. So mostly ranging from punk to rock to alternative to a nice mix of all three.
Books: I prefer poetry to novels, usually much quicker to read but a lifetime to appreciate, I specifically like the poetry of the Romantic era poets e.g. Coleridge, Keats, Byron & Wordsworth. Favourite poet of all time? William Blake, no doubt about it.
Movies: Does it have a vaguely thought-out plot and a bit of action? I'll watch it. James Bond films, Bourne films, Die Hard films, Fight Club, Wanted, Trainspotting, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Batman, Iron Man, Snatch, Seven
Television: Teachers, Spooks, CSI, Silent Witness, Waking the Dead, Being Human, Life on Mars, House, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Mock the Week, Outnumbered, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Robin Hood, Merlin (The latter four mainly because TV-watching in our household nearly will always be dictated by what my wife and kids like!)
Favourite Quotations:
"Without contraries is no progression. Attraction and repulsion, reason and energy, love and hate, are necessary to human existence."
-- William Blake
"A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new."
-- Albert Einstein
"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less."
-- Madame Curie
About Me: I'm Harry Armitage (yes of The Armitages, don't hurt me), a proud husband and father of 3 children who, let's face it aren't cute, innocent kids anymore and 1 new baby who likes to wake his father up in the middle of the night, resulting in him looking like utter shit come morning time! It actually scares the shit out of me how fast they grow up though.
What else can I say? Hmmm well... I hate talking about myself, will hex you if you insist on asking me inane questions like on those pointless internet 'about me' surveys, and enjoy a good bit of chemisty and potion making. That's it, basically.
