Name: Juliet Celeste Tancredi
Nicknames: Amongst friends, she's ‘Jules’- she feels ‘Juliet’ is too wimpy-girly.
Age: 30 (b: 12th October 1982)
Blood: half and half
Appearance: With the wavy golden blonde hair that frames Juliet’s pale face and the wide blue eyes neatly lined with mascara, you’d be forgiven for thinking that she was a cute little blonde angel. But as soon as she opens her mouth you realise it’s not true. Her dress sense is decidedly rock-chick-y though she generally gives off a “I don’t care about fashion” vibe- most of her clothing is purposefully not-mainstream or in-fashion and from little shops or vintage boutiques around London. Standing tall at 6 foot, Juliet has a slim frame and carries herself with, oddly, an almost-uptight posture (it comes from years of ballet dancing and horse riding in her youth in which she was told to correct her posture) which only adds to the air of haughty, standoffishness that most people get from her. She, however, is unable to control either her mouth or her facial expressions… it’s safe to say she has quite an expressive face and she rolls her eyes so much that it’s now become a habit- she doesn’t even realise she’s doing it.
Personality: Juliet, first and foremost, comes off as abrasive and standoffish. She says what she means and if asked for an opinion she will tell the absolute truth, even if it may hurt someone in the process. She wants everyone to be truthful and is sick and tired of phonies, particularly those of the male gender. Juliet might say this but really, she lies to herself all the time and closes herself off from other people to avoid getting hurt. However, Juliet has a strong sense of morality and justice- something that she finds it harm to check for the sake of jokes, for example. Someone once put it "you're like a fun vampire because you don't suck blood, you just suck", and she has indeed been described as a "buzz kill" more than once. She has a clear cut sense of 'right and wrong', someone she believes more people should have, and wants everyone to follow the same kind of principles. Unsurprisingy, most just deem her a "buzz kill" and move on.
Background: Juliet is the first born child of witch, Abigail (nee Schwartz) and the very conservative, muggle, rich Italian Robert Tancredi. It does seem an odd couple on paper, to say the least, but Abigail and her slightly (as disappointing as it is to her more 'proper' siblings) kooky, hippified, live-life-to-the-full personality helped to bring Robert out of his more introverted, stiff upbringing and the two of them married happily with Juliet following quickly, along with Michael (23) and Vanessa (16). The household situated in Notting Hill, London, left very little room for being introverted- indeed the family was very loud, brash and proud to do family things with all their energy, perhaps a little too much enthusiasm at times. As such it's unsurprising that Juliet ended up so outspoken, self-confident and utterly convinced that she was right and her opinion deserved to be said, or shouted rather, if her teenage protest-stunts were anything to go by. When she was of age she attended Hogwarts, was after some deliberation sorted into Slytherin, and quickly made friends (and some enemies unknowingly) and got on well with her teachers. She wasn't exactly top of the class but a comfortable middle- not succeeding any further than that because she hated exams and tended to freeze when under pressure.
As a child, Juliet was quite the little lady, taking up numerous hobbies of which two only stuck - horseriding and ballet - though she tries not to mention her ballet-obsessed childhood to people now, fearing it makes her look 'all wimpy girl'. When she hit puberty however her already fully-formed opinions and mind were let loose, so to speak, and it was at Hogwarts that she really changed. Once a member of the bitchy, make-up plastered 'in crowd', Juliet returned in her fourth year only to lose most of her friends thanks to her new found desire to be frank with everyone. People were a bit put off by her brash, abrasive nature though she reckons that "they were just jealous because I got boobs before them". And so life at Hogwarts continued. Upon graduation Juliet had no path clearly illustrated for her. Her parents maintained that she should follow her heart but, as she didn't know what the hell she wanted to do, she just ended up doing shitty, low-paid jobs for a good few years, mainly waitressing. Later she became a barmaid in the Weasley Weekends' nightclub and it was here that she realised she wanted to, and had the talent to, make a career out of singing. Or so she thought. With no luck amongst wizarding producers, she turned to the muggle world and has, since then, been looking for a record label that is willing to sign her. After some success in catching Raymond Bennett's eye, Jules has enjoyed minor success on the London live music scene and has been able to give up part-time work as she has enough gigs to see singing as a viable source of income.
Characteristics: She doesn't like inactivity at all and, as such, she's constantly 'out' and travelling places because she hates being stuck alone in the house- Juliet can't think of anything worst than being tied down to a 9-5 routine all her life so she lives in the moment. Her travels to many different countries on her spontaneous jaunts abroad with friends (during various states of sobriety) have resulted in her picking up many languages, with differing degrees of fluency. She's near-fluent in French, Spanish and Italian and knows basic phrases in Russian, Chinese and Japanese.
Other: She left her 3-person flat in London (that she shared with 2 other girls that she doesn't really like or trust, unless alcohol was provided) in favour of moving in with fellow shitty-low-paid workers/barstaff, Grace Cohen, Justin Biermann and Kyle Michalka.
She owns a black cat with white paws called Romeo- purely for the giggles when people realise "oh Romeo... and Juliet... Romeo and Juliet, haha!"
