Mackenzie had been studying like mad ever since the incident. She had stopped attending parties that weren’t on Hogsmeade weekends. She had started really training for her job as Gryffindor’s mascot. Mac was a skilled mascot prior to this ‘good girl’ phase, she could do flips and cheer on her own team with the best of them but now she was excellent. She had even enlisted some of the other Gryffindor girls to help her. It was like they had a whole cheering squad now.
Upcoming exams were the reason for Mackenzie’s fervent studying today. She had tried the library but there were no seats with everyone crammed in there. It seemed to be filled with seventh years trying to remember everything they had forgotten or never learned while slacking off and first years petrified of their first exams.
The Dungeons weren’t the nicest of places but they were sure to be quiet and not cold like the Astronomy tower. There she sat her back against a wall and Potions book opened on her lap. It only seemed appropriate to be studying Potions in the Dungeons. She was so focused she didn’t realise another girl had come along until Elena interrupted her.

“Heya Mac,” Elena greeted the blonde with her head bent toward her Potions book as she flopped down beside her. “Look at you working away at your Potions,” she said with a snarky but joking lilt to her voice. “You know you’re already good at that mate?” she told the blonde with a smile.
As Mackenzie gave her a disbelieving look, “Shut the fuck up, your brill,” she said, with a shrug of her shoulders as if to counter Mackenzie’s unspoken argument, “Your like the Mistress of Potions,” the brunette told her, “Fuck, if you should be studying anything I think it should be Transfiguration. That owl of yours isn’t going to turn into a goblet on its own and I don’t think a diamond although pretty is anything you can drink out of,” she joked light heartedly.
“At least mine looked like a goblet. It was a wee bit tall, but maybe I meant it to be that way, aye?” she retorted with a laugh as they taunted each other as they often did. Elena watched Mackenzie write for a moment her deep blue eyes tracing over her friends fancy cursive. Elena bit her bottom lip unconsciously. Everything about Mackenzie’s writing was perfect, the loops, the rise and fall of her letters, all of it appeared like she had practiced such artistry with great effort.
As their eyes met again she asked, “Are you coming the party tonight?” almost teasingly, “Come on Mackenzie, you know you want to,” she nudged the girl. Elena giggled along with Mackenzie’s laugh. Elena’s laugh was surprisingly girlish for her otherwise snarky, outgoing and tough nature. Suddenly after Mac wined in an almost pleading way Elena leaned forward and kissed her.
When Mackenzie shoved her away Elena felt slightly mortified. “At that party, we tried it and, and I thought it felt nice,” she said in an uncharacteristically shy manner.

Mackenzie turned to Elena with a raised eyebrow unconvinced of her supposed prowess when it came to Potions. She then laughed as Elena joked about her little mishap in Transfiguration, she had turned her owl into a huge diamond rather than a goblet.
“Yeah well your huge purple vase thing was no better,” Mackenzie teased right back before shaking her head and continuing to scribble something down in her fancy curvy cursive.
Finishing the paragraph she looked up from her notebook to find Elena staring back at her. The girl almost flinched slightly as if she didn’t expect to be noticed. It was a bit difficult not to notice someone staring at you when you were sat right beside them. “No,” Mackenzie replied a bit gloomily with a shrug, “I can’t. I have too much to study, and practice later for Quidditch, and I want to finish rewriting my essay for Ancient Ruins,” she explained. Mac laughed again and shoved Elena in return, “I know I do, but I can’t” she said almost in a pleading way.
Taken aback by Elena’s lips suddenly on hers Mackenzie broke away, “What are you doing?” she asked confusedly almost in an angry way, she couldn’t understand what had made Elena do this. Perhaps it was the amount of misunderstandings going on around her which made her so defensive and harsh. “Yeah, we did, but I was pissed, and you know how I like to try everything at least once. We were just messing about… but I don’t,” she shook her head gathering her books quickly. “I’m sorry Elena I just don’t.”

Watching Mackenzie shuffle her things into her arms a sinking feeling was beginning to set in Elena’s stomach, “No I don’t either, I just wanted to try it again,” she yelled at her friend’s retreating backside, “I just wanted to try it,” she repeated quietly to the now empty corridor.
This wasn’t her she liked guys, lots of guys. Why had she kissed Mackenzie, again. For one Mac had amazing lips, and was a great kisser. There was a reason she got the job at the kissing booth last summer when they tried to help raise money last year at the festival to help ‘save the whales.’ The whole, save the whales had been Mackenzie’s idea Elena went along for the festivities and roller coasters. Elena wasn’t gay or even bisexual. She liked having sex with guys. Logan, Rodger, Calvin, Seamus, and… there was a long list that her brother definitely didn’t know about. Logan in particular had been the best shag she had ever had, he was like the God of Sex.
“Fuck,” she punched the ground with her fist and then put her face in her hands, but didn’t notice that she was no longer alone.
((ooc: Anyone? I really wanted something awkward and crazy to happen for Elena, she’s sort of like my little Emily, Katie and Naomi from skins all rolled into one. She’s sort of badassery, shy and quiet, then also very opinionated person hehe.))

(ooc: Hope Adelle is okay, I figured they'd get along!)
Adelle slid carefully through the small space between a heavy wooden door and the cold stone walls. She was wearing a cloak that was much too big for her, with loads of hidden pockets stuffed with stolen Potions ingredients from the Dungeons. Hey, it was the school's own fault for not trusting them with serious Potions and dangerous ingredients, really, when at least some of the students had proven themselves to be mature and capable... NEWT-level classes really couldn't come soon enough. At least she'd be turning 16 in a few days, and might finally have a fighting chance at being treated like an adult.
She jumped a little when Mackenzie staggered past, but the other girl seemed fairly distracted by something, so Adelle just watched her pass without saying anything. She finally found Elena sat on the floor and slid her back slowly down the wall next to her, a few tiny vials clanking lightly in Adelle's pockets as she did so. She blinked and stayed silent for a few seconds, watching Elena's expression. "Shit," she finally said with a minuscule smile, returning Elena's swear with one of her own. She glanced upward and tucked her knees up to her chin. "What happened?"

Elena heard a small clanking sound. For a brief second Elena thought it was Mackenzie come back to apologise. In that moment she wished that Mackenzie wouldn’t be her kind, always making up for things, righting wrongs, do-gooder wrapped in a rebels clothing self. As she heard someone swear however Elena sighed in relief and looked up. It wasn’t Mackenzie. Instead it was Adelle.
Elena smiled slightly as she glanced over at Adelle who was gazing upward. For a moment Elena looked up, as if she might find something remarkable on the ceiling where Adelle was looking. “I don’t know,” she shrugged, “Nothing really…” she paused in thought for a moment as she traced crakes in the ceiling. “I made a mistake,” she finished confusion written all over her features.
((ooc: Adelle is perfect.))
