Wearing a gigantic light brown knit jumper that fell to her knees, Adelle kicked her shoes off and lowered herself down to the ground, stretching out comfortably on the grass. She pulled a yellowed copy of The Bell Jar from her pocket and, leaning against one elbow, began to read the familiar tale of Esther Greenwood's descent into mental illness as the lightly dewy grass skimmed between Adelle's toes.
She shifted slightly and flipped the book over to her right side, realising immediately that there was someone seated to the other side of her.
(ooc: aaaaaanyone!)

Giving a shiver as a chill wind blew, Ceara rearranged her scarf and shifted her glasses to get comfortable, she took out a quill and a piece of parchment and began to scribble, looking up as she realised she'd been joined by a younger student who she knew to be called Adelle.
"Hey..Adelle right? Its a little cold isnt it? What are you reading?" she asked with an interested tone, looking sadly to her parchment before folding it and pushing it away from her.
(ooc. Hope Cee is ok)

(ooc: Cee is great!)
"I like the cold," Adelle said blankly, glancing up at the older Gryffindor. She put her book down, lied back on the grass and snaked her arms out of her sleeves so they were bundled up within her gigantic jumper. She honestly did like the cold -- any chance to hide in huge, lumpy, ill-fitting clothes was fine by Adelle. She smiled a little at Ceara, unsure of what to say. She always came on way too strong when she met people... when she wasn't frozen with silence, anyway.
Adelle had always liked Cee: she was so nice and adorable and terribly clever, and this intimidated Adelle, somehow. She really ought to get over that. Looking down at her book, she said, "Oh, The Bell Jar. Have you read it? Smart woman gets super depressed, goes through all this electroshock therapy and crap, eventually heads down to the cellar and takes a shitload of sleeping pills. Spoiler alert," Adelle deadpanned with her eyes closed. She turned her head and looked at Cee. "What were you writing, if you don't mind my asking?"

"Really? Oh no, I really dont like the cold at all, as soon as there's a slight breeze Im shiverin' an' reaching for me scarf. The only thing I like about the cold is the knitwear and hot drinks" she smiled, motioning to her thick wooly scarf that her mother had knit her, every winter she'd get a whole array of knitted goods and she loved it.
Nodding her head as Adelle asked her if she'd read the book, "Aye, me sister Cait gave me that one. I liked it ok but I prefer somethin' like a mystery or I'll read one o' those muggle fantasy books, its nice to see how right they have us pegged" she gave a small smirk before looking to the parchment she'd just folded, hiding the words she'd just written because each of them reminded her of things she did not want to think about at all.
"Oh um...I was writin' to Sebastian. Its the 5th letter I've wrote him...never send them though" she shook her head and wrapped her arms around her knees, resting her chin on the crook of them and gave a sigh as she looked off into the distance, trying not to think about the one thing on her mind.

"Yeah?" Adelle said as Cee talked about books; she'd never actually read any Muggle fantasy before... consequence of growing up in a stuffy Pureblood house, probably. "Want to swap books sometime? I've just read The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë... her sisters got all the fame but Anne was way more badass. Cut the romantic crap and told it like it was," she nodded as she pulled her arms closer to her body; she hadn't expected the cold weather to come quite so quickly.
She nodded in understanding when Cee explained about the letter. "I do that sometimes. I mostly write to people who make me angry... boys who mistreat their girlfriends, the government, people who write songs that get stuck in my head and drive me crazy, you know," Adelle smiled a little bit; she carried a lot of anger in her little frame and liked to get it out through writing. "If you need to talk or... not talk... or whatever," Adelle said a bit awkwardly; she was trying to let Ceara know that she could confide in her if necessary... but as a girl who wasn't great at making friends, it all felt a bit uncomfortable.

Smiling and nodding her head, Ceara loved to read and was always on the look out for new books to try, she loved people people to recommend books to her and she loved to recommend her favourite reads as well, "I'd love that, Im always on the look out for new books to read. Are there any books you just wont read? Just so I know not to give you them" she shifted her scarf slightly to cover a small exposed piece of skin that seemed to send a chill through her whole body.
"This...well...its kind of an apology really but its all been said before, hence me not sending it." she said with a soft sigh, looking to Adelle with a soft smile, "You should make a book out of that, 'Letters to no one'. A book filled with letters, one for every emotion" she suggested with a slight tilt of her head, her cheeks growing pink as the girl offered her someone to talk to, Ceara was sure it was just to appear polite and nodded her head.
"I dumped Sebastian on the platform at Kings Cross before I came back here" she blurted out, she hadnt told anyone what she had done, dumping the boy who had came specially to see her safely on the train back to school, leaving him brokenhearted as she was rushed away back to Hogwarts.

Adelle pulled her knees up into her giant sweater and looked thoughtful for a second. "No sparkly vampires, but anything else is cool. I trust your taste in books," she smiled lightly.
"Hmm... I shall think about it. I might have to call the book HEY DICKFACE, in all capital letters, you know... that's how I generally like to start the letters." She ruffled a hand through her hair as the wind started to get stronger.
"Oh yeah?" Adelle replied. To an outside observer it would seem like she didn't really care, but that was just the way Adelle was -- a little distant, not all there. "Shit happens, you know? People are weird and complicated and you can't make everyone happy all of the time; sometimes you just have to do what's right for you," Adelle spoke vaguely, though she had no idea what she was talking about -- she'd never been on a date, never mind a real relationship with real commitment and... feelings.

Looking at Adelle with a confused look, Ceara didnt know if the girl was being silly or serious, "Sparkly...vampires? Um...what?" she smiled, sure that this had to be some kind of joke because no one in their right mind would write a book about a sparkly vampire.
"I think maybe I should try your letter idea, it sounds like a great way to release all this anger up inside of me...but then knowing my luck, the letters would end up in the wrong hands and I'd just upset everyone" she gave a hearty sigh, flopping her arms down by her side dramatically, nodding her head slowly as Adelle spoke, she didnt seem disinterested as such, more akward that Ceara had gone and ranted on about her problems like the girl wanted to hear them.
Even though she felt like she shouldnt be bothering Adelle with this, she couldnt help but talk to her, couldnt help but say what was on her mind, "I was really happy with him you know but Im only young, far too young for a serious relationship right? I mean, we'd been together a year already. I shouldnt be tied down now...I should be living my life doing what I want to do. I dont want to end up like them" she spoke the last word in a sad voice, not revealing who the mysterious them was.

Adelle just shook her head. "You're... probably better off not knowing. Trust me."
Plucking a few blades of grass from the lush field and twisting them around her fingers, Adelle nodded. "I think we should turn these letters into a beat poetry thing. Read them out loud. Get berets and black jumpers, smoke heavily and drink coffee while snapping our fingers. I don't know, I'm feeling pretty hip to it," Adelle smiled slightly as she moved up a bit and leaned against a tree.
"Yeah... them... they're awful," Adelle nodded; she hadn't a clue who "they" referred to but felt like showing some sisterly solidarity to this girl she hardly knew. "Sure, when you're older it might be nice to have someone around the house, so you don't choke to death alone in your kitchen or something, but right now... we're young, we have loads of people around to phone for help," she joked, nodding like she'd just said something very serious and profound.

Giving Adelle a look that could only be described as 'disturbed', Cee nodded her head and gave a soft smile, deciding it in her best interest to avoid thinking of this strange book.
"I'll tell ye what, ye can do the readin' & I'll stand there doin' the finger clickin'? Im not so hot at the readin' out loud thing but the rest I can get on board with" she couldnt help but give a laugh as she imagined the pair of them performing these random letters, cigarettes dangling from their lips and a coffee in their empty hands. Suddenly, Ceara's problem of what to wear for Halloween had been solved, it was perfect and easy.
"Aye yer right, he'll get over it and start talkin' to me again eventually...and even if he dont well, cant blame him eh. Sorry for just blurtin' it out..." she gave the girl a sheepish smile, feeling silly for just blabbing how she felt to someone she didnt really know. "Want some fudge? Me mammy made it" Ceara offered, pulling a small paperbag out of her pocket, taking a piece of fudge from it before offering the bag to Adelle.
