Name: Veronica Cordelia Deschanel
Nicknames: Ronny, V
Blood: half-blood, (sort of- see history)
Age: 18
Year: Graduated
Appearance: Standing at 5’6” Veronica is quite petite with blonde hair that naturally falls in subtle waves a few inches past her shoulders. She has big blue eyes like her father, flanked by long dark lashes that are made longer with mascara. She has angular features, a long nose, arching eyebrows. She dresses her pretty figure for comfort rather than fashion trends, and usually prefers jeans over a dress or skirt.
Personality: Snarky, clever, spunky, perky, upbeat, chatty, and reflective, Veronica is a bit of a contradiction. A modern day Nancy Drew, with a darkly humored wit, who doesn’t mind a little PDA with a guy, is probably the best way to summarize Veronica in one sentence. She is the small-time private investigator for Hogwarts: tracking down stolen caldrons, digging up dirt on parents, and finding the missing sorting hat are some of the many things she can do, (and now for Hogsmeade). A non-conformist, she has undeniably committed many illegal and duplicitous acts in the course of doing her detective work, leading many to openly question the moral consequences of her vendetta against Hogwarts status quo.
Thoughtful and decisive, she has good instincts. With an overactive curiosity and imagination, unhindered by her friend’s curiosity, Veronica is bound to find trouble, and has little regard for rules and regulations, just so long as she isn’t caught breaking them. In most situations however, she is the responsible one that helps others out of a bind with her quick-wit. She can be a bit glib, sarcastic and sometimes goofy. Veronica is more pensive and contemplative than most others. Calculating, she tends to think things through before jumping into something, and has her moments of quiet pondering.
Background: Born to Zoe Deschanel and Alistair Armitage, a father who didn’t even know she existed, made for an interesting upbringing to say the least. Her parents were both wizards, which technically should make her a pureblood, however her mum was muggle-born making her a half-blood which her father’s family highly disapproved of, just as they disapproved of her mum.
Like her mother, Veronica was born at a hospital in London, but she moved with her mum to New York to live with her grandparents (who were originally from London, England, but moved to New York when their daughter, Zoe, was six for business purposes). Veronica and her mother lived in a small flat in New York and lived quite a free life-style. She is very close to her grandparents Rupert Deschanel and Winifred Deschanel (nee Conte).
Characteristics: Like her father Veronica can be very pensive and thoughtful about everything, silently brooding over something or other rather than instigating a conversation. She likes romance such as poetry but tends to leave all the gushy stuff to her mother. Veronica doesn’t like to show as much affection as her mother, but does give hugs readily to the people that deserve it. When nervous like her mother she tends to babble. Veronica can be goofy and silly. She’s very blunt, and her opinions well-thought. Like her mum she is the sort of person that wants to help everyone and anything. Sometimes she’s too busy saving the world and solving problems that she forgets little things like eating, sleeping and not stepping on other people’s feelings. She will apologise when she’s offended someone.
Other: She has a grey owl that always has a bemused air about him named Bartholomew (Batty). She lives in a flat with Martin Moss who she sort of has a crush on.
