Squeezing through groups of people crowded in the hallway Josh dived for an open space and made it through to the kitchen, helping himself to a can of beer before disappearing back into the party to try to find any of his friends who weren't preoccupied with snogging their girlfriends. Knowing he could count on Sid not to be busy with a girl- as mean as he should feel for thinking it he didn't really care- Josh scanned the room for the familiar sight of his red hair before finally spotting him near Kevin Walsh and that-blonde-O'Connor-girl, no-not-Evvy-the-other-one.
"Sidney, my man!" he exclaimed loudly, clapping him on the shoulder in greeting, "What's this I hear about 'really good sex'?" he asked with a look of confusion, having caught the tail end of what he was saying to that dude Matt's sister. He thought she was called Adelle but couldn't be sure but spoke up anyway, "Hey, it's Adelle right?" he asked with a smile, "So Sid, my pal, my friend, my bud... I heard you're getting laid tonight, who is the lucky girl?" he asked with an amused grin.

"I don't actually care, you know. Not like I want to shag her is it?" Adelle joked very dryly to Sid as he stumbled over his words; it seemed like he might think she did care. "Or you, for that matter. No offense." And she honestly didn't mean any offense -- she was just being honest. She spotted her brother Bradley out of the corner of her eye and looked at Sid with concern, wondering if he'd noticed, because if there were any of Evelyn's siblings he ought to worry about...
She turned her head to the side as she curiously watched Wes and Chelle dance, feeling a little bit sick to her stomach. Giving Sid a funny look as he said it was like watching really good sex, she almost laughed in a friendly way, but didn't. She thought jokingly to herself that more importantly than needing to get laid, the boy needed to find himself some better porn. "It reminds me more of this nature doc I saw once where a goat tried to mount a chicken... it's so very wrong, yet there's nothing you can do to stop it," Adelle said, completely kidding, yet nothing in her expression or tone of voice would indicate that. She forced her gaze away from the the couple, thinking she couldn't possibly have a thing for Chelle, she was just concerned for the welfare of her friend. A friend with whom she'd never actually had a real conversation. Yeah, that sounded right.
"Yes," she responded to Josh, just confirming her name rather than take the greeting any further. She mostly knew him as the brother of Meghan Vorpahl, a girl who would be Adelle's sworn enemy if only Meg had any idea who Adelle was. "Evelyn," she answered him curtly before taking a long drink so she wouldn't have to talk too much, knowing privately that should either of them say any... unfortunate words about her sister in Adelle's presence, they would never get away with it.

"You should not be thinking about such filth, young man!" Meg said to her older brother in response to his "really good sex" line as she came up behind their little group and rubbed her knuckles against the top of Josh's head -- clearly enjoying the fact that she was taller than him in heels.
She crossed one foot in front of the other and sighed. "You should have waited and apparated with me, you tit! I had to take the bus. You know who takes the bus? Perverts. Murderers. Old guys who haven't showered in months. It was awful," she complained while staring at her manicured nails. Meg looked up at the merry band of losers standing around Josh and rolled her eyes -- he really needed to hang around a higher quality of people. The girl had potential if she'd invest in a hair straightener for once, but in Meg's opinion Sid was only cute in a pathetic sort of way and Kevin was just... a total lost cause.

Looking to Adelle as she confirmed her name he smiled in a friendly way, knowing they'd never really spoken ever, but nonetheless looked surprised as she said Evelyn would be Sid's 'lucky lady'. "Wait, Evelyn, Evelyn O'Connor? Sidney, my man, wow... Evelyn is pretty amazing..." he said, without a hint of irony, he thought the girl was lovely, if a little odd. "But more importantly do you have a death wish? Because I have a feeling that if old Bradley finds out you'll be pulp before you can even say shag let alone attempt one," he told him simply, taking a swig of beer before turning around as he heard his sister's voice.
Merely snorting as she rubbed her knuckles against his head he shook it then, "Well then, in that case, you definitely should not be thinking or doing such filth for another good couple of years, Meg," he explained with a simple shrug of his shoulders. Sighing slightly in exasperation he shook his head, "Oh so I'm just a tit now am I? You know Meghan, my lovely sister, some people would say having to take the bus is a valuable experience, you're reaching out to walks of life you otherwise wouldn't have seen before... that kind of stuff is the things movies are made of, admittedly shit movies but hey, I'm not one to judge," he spoke teasingly as Meg examined her manicure. "Have you met these guys? Sid, Adelle and Kevin," he gestured to each of them, despite his sister's obvious disdain, before adding, "Oh and Sid reckons he's bagging Evelyn O'Connor tonight."

"Hello to you too, Meg," he said sarcastically to the girl who'd probably only acknowledge him if he had money literally spilling out of his pockets. Kevin did, however, laugh at her complaints towards Josh... simply because he always found great joy in the exasperation of others.
Kevin noticed his cousin Bradley and groaned audibly. He shook his head and looked to Sid with absolute gravity. "No. No. No. If that prick so much as harms a hair on your great ginger head..." he said in all seriousness while staring into Sid's eyes (Kevin was rather intoxicated by this point), "We'll fuck him up. You and me and... and the lamp. How's your right hook?" He did a series of punches in the air while grinning and nodding insanely, so Sid knew that he had his back.

"A couple of years? We're only a year apart, dummy, that's a total double standard you know?" Meg told Josh before turning to Adelle. "You're, like, a feminist or whatever, you tell him," she said, shrugging.
Meg sighed heavily at her brother. "Yeah, standing under a fat guy's sweaty armpit, really valuable life lesson there, Joshua," she said while flipping hair over her shoulder. "Oh! I didn't have the right amount for the fare, you know, so I borrowed from James and then I like, put back those Galleons we both owe him from last Sunday? So now you owe me. We'll work it out later," she spoke without pausing to take a breath. It was all a lie, but it was the primary way she made money -- scamming people by constructing horribly confusing chains of who-owes-who, borrowing money and never giving it back, and so on. It only worked about half of the time, but when it did, she usually walked away in a new pair of expensive heels.
"Oh. Is Sid high?" Meg laughed loudly when she heard that Sid was under the impression that he was going to have sex with Evelyn O'Connor. She then felt guilty -- a rarity for Meg, so it must have been that "pathetically cute" thing working in his favor -- and smiled kindly at Sid. She had her own predicament to deal with, after all: by far the least experienced of her friends, they always gave her shit for it... yet the second she did pretty much anything, those same girls were always the first to call her a slut. Meg could never figure out why other people even cared who was doing who or whatever, but... they did.
Sensing an opportunity to make Josh uncomfortable, she moved close to Sid and said, "Hold still," while carefully messing with his hair and giggling. "You have to look good for the big event!" Meg leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek in order to leave a nice bright red lipstick mark, and lightly ran her finger over it to make sure it would stay in place. "There. So she'll know you're highly desirable," she said with a wink.

Adelle mumbled something about having to leave and wandered away from the pack, shifting through a crowd that was considerably rowdier than it had been when she first arrived. She instinctively crossed her arms while passing some creepy guy who was clearly way too old to attend a teenager's party, nearly got herself caught between a couple of seventh years throwing punches, and finally made it to a couch where two people she'd never seen before were shoving their tongues down each others' throats.
Sitting in perhaps the most uncomfortable position ever, perched on the edge of the sofa and slowly shrinking away from the snogging couple, Adelle played with the lighter from her pocket. She put her head in her hand, immediately spotting Rachael in the crowd even though she wasn't consciously looking for her. She leaned her head back and closed her eyes, trying to relax... before someone bumped into the sofa and spilled beer down the front of her top.

Stephan had been moving around the shadows of the room for a while. He wasn’t really interested in being mauled by Kelly and other girls that squealed at his presence and then insisted on snogging him, which was something he didn’t want in the slightest. Instead his hazel eyes searched the crowd for one blonde in particular. He’d sent her an owl asking her if she wanted to come, along with the address and time, though he wasn’t entirely sure Claire was coming at all.
With a sigh, Stephan traipsed into the kitchen to get himself another drink. Something stronger he reckoned. Finding a bottle of vodka he downed a few shots before some guy, who was already pissed offered him some spliff. “No thanks, maybe later,” he said flashing his charming smile so that the guy-- who he distinctly thought might actually be Ron, the host of the house-- would go away. It worked, the guy-- possible Ron-- stumbled from the kitchen hailing another group of unsuspecting victims. Pouring himself another shot, he hissed, “Fuck it,” grabbing the bottle and was prepared to turn around and walk straight back into the party and finish off the entire bottle when he heard the door creak open and an unmistakable sultry voice behind him said, “You’re going to need some lime with that.”
A smile involuntarily hinted at the edges of his mouth as he turned around to see the goddess-like creature before him. Her eyes were a pale yet vibrant green, bright against her flawless tanned complexion and long dark locks framing her face that shimmered with an auburn hue every time the light touched it. Even from here he could see that her smooth skin would feel like silk beneath his fingertips and her form fitting little black dress hugging her curves in all the right places only emphasised this thought. Adriana would have been more enticing and enchanting. Should have been, if a pair of wide bluey-green eyes and that familiar face weren’t still obscuring his vision as he thought of Claire, the girl he hadn’t seen in over a week since his father had taken it upon himself to watch his every move, and then out of nowhere decided they needed to take some family time over the weekend. They never had family time anymore. Something was wrong, worrying his father, and that bothered Stephan.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t be without Claire, but simply that she intrigued him. Claire was remarkably intuitive, and always surprised him with what she said. He couldn’t read Claire unlike most people, and that left him completely bewildered, with a burning hunger to know more about her. Only when he was with her, could he read the expression in her open eyes. Unlike Adriana, who he could read instantly, from her posture and the alluring expression on her delicate features, one that would make any man- or most at least- weak in the knees, he could tell that she wanted to shag, or at the very least snog him. This thought would have been appealing if he hadn’t been distracted with his deep curiousity for Claire.
((ooc: Stephan is magical, he can be in two places at once! hehe, and sorry that was a wee bit long, blame it on Stephan and his musings.))

Adriana had been dancing her heart out with many guys. None of them were quite adequate dance partners however. Thirsty for something, and with a dire need to break away from Chris stepping on her toes, she sauntered into the kitchen. A sexy smile immediately curved over her lips as she saw the familiar form standing with his back turned to her against the counter, grabbing a bottle of vodka, “You’re going to need some lime with that,” she offered, striking a seductive pose with a hand on her hip as he turned around. Stephan was always a good dancer, and she delighted at the idea of dancing with him again. Walking casually toward the counter she grabbed a bowl of limes, smiling to herself as she noted him ever so subtly checking her out, or trying to at least, he seemed a little distracted by something. “Here,” she said stuffing a wedge of lime into his mouth, before pouring them each a shot, “It’s better with tequila but I really prefer the taste of vodka,” she admitted clinking their shots together before saying, “Bottoms up,” and downing hers before pouring them another. “Stop giving me that look Cullen. I’m not going to mount you right here. You have a girlfriend, but if you ever change your mind about that, you know where I am,” she flashed him a sexy smile gazing up at him through her lashes before downing another shot and chasing it with a wedge of lemon. In truth Adriana would have loved to shag him, or even simply snog Stephan, but he was a gentleman and wouldn’t cheat on a person he claimed to love. Adriana likewise, never wanted to be someone else’s affair. ((ooc: It's Adriana's first post, woohoo! Hurray for new charries, hehe))

Stephan smiled, relieved as he took another shot. Adriana was always blunt, but considerate in her own way. “Thanks Andie,” he said downing another shot. They continued on like this laughing and chatting about their lives along the way before they’d practically finished the entire bottle. A little drunk Stephan smirked at her, “How about I give you a dance, aye, dancing isn’t hurting anyone,” he suggested as a way of being gracious for not letting him drink alone.
At her consent, after one last shot, Stephan took her hand in a gentlemanly manner and lead her through the kitchen door onto the makeshift dance floor. Twirling her into his arms, Stephan and Adriana began dancing fluidly, probably a little closer and sexier than they should have, but he’d had a few too many shots to notice their close proximity.

Smiling triumphantly, Adriana slammed her shot glass down onto the counter top, “Yes, I’d love to, you owe me something for not letting you mope alone in here and be antisocial,” she teased, taking his arm in a dramatic gesture, and pranced back into the party.
Giggling as Stephan twirled her into him, she smiled, “Still light on your feet. Damn those purebloods and their insistence on dance lessons as a child, huh?” she joked, as they began to dance. Her insides cheered with pleasure as they continued to move closer to one another, they’re movements becoming more fluid, something resembling salsa and hip-hop combined with whatever else came to mind as the music flowed through them. Adriana found her face inches from his as they danced, but she didn’t close the gap, she wouldn’t without letting Stephan make the first move, but he didn’t appear to notice.

Alexis found Matt’s prim voice and regal manners hilarious because it was so unlike him. “You should be honoured that I find you charming,” she chirped, still amused by his dramatics.
Noting Matt’s distraction Alexis looked up at him with a perplexed expression, as if to ask what was wrong, without actually speaking. Shrugging it off with her usually cheery, slightly smirky smile, “Its fine Mattie, we both know there’s girls here hotter than me who are probably drawing your attention away from my mad skills,” she joked offhandedly before putting her arms around his neck. “Unless of course you’re secretly into Wes,” she mentioned with a small snort noticing him looking in that direction.
Releasing her hold on Matt, she glanced around, turning her whole body to see where the illusive Bradley was, and saw him moving through the hallway. “What? Oh… there he is,” she shrugged glancing back to Matt, “Why, is that a bad thing? Are you not supposed to be here or something? Because I can distract him if you need me too, but you’d owe me,” she said as if distracting Bradley with her usual babble or surprise him with a kiss while Matt hid himself was a tremendous burden. “Go ahead,” she replied easily, as Matt began to ask her a question, “Oh… um… good question… well probably because he has loads of money, is popular, kinda muscular and rather good looking?” she answered as if listing off his qualities, “Dunno really why girls make such a fuss over him though, he’s a bloody fucking wanker sometimes, no offense or anything,” she added not wanting to hurt Matt’s feelings. Bradley was alright most of the time, but Lexi got protective over Matt, especially when Bradley started picking on him.

Ioan found himself rather distracted by Stephan and Adriana’s dancing. Mostly by Adriana, he couldn’t care less about how Stephan was dancing. He found Adriana rather intoxicating. ‘Who wouldn’t… well maybe not Stephan,’ he thought to himself, the guy only had eyes for that perky blonde Hufflepuff. Though one couldn’t tell by the way he danced with Adriana. Still, Ioan knew he shouldn’t be even considering thinking about Adriana in that way. He already had enough ‘women problems’. Yes, women, plural! This distraction made him oblivious however, to the garrulous group behind him, who incidentally knocked into him as they rushed by into the crowd of people, high on something or other, making him spill his beer all over some poor girl perched on the edge of the sofa next to him. “Oh, I’m so sorry!” he gasped. Whipping out his wand from his back pocket he muttered a cleaning charm and a drying charm, “There good as new,” he smiled at her. His brow pulled together slightly trying to place a name with her face. “Adelle right?” he asked, hoping he’d gotten the right name. He was always so much better remembering faces. “Sorry about that. Those big oafs bumped into me and… well it was my fault anyways, sorry,” he apologised. “Are you enjoying yourself, before I spilled my beer down your front that is?” he asked trying to make conversation. ((ooc: Hope you don't mind that Ioan was the one to spill beer on Adelle. ))

Caleb walked, or rather shifted this way and that as he moved out of the way of other people, as he wandered through the house. Noticing his best mate Kevin, sat with a bottle of vodka he walked over to the little group he’d surrounded himself with, “Hey mate,” he greeted Kevin, then nodded to the others, “Sid, Josh, Meg,” he smiled automatically a bit more at Meg than the others. He always thought Meg was cute, however his affections for someone else hadn’t waned over the summer. He’d hope it would after being away in Argentina at the Quidditch World Cup, which Peter had helped get their family tickets too. At least this summer he’d sent letters to Kevin and Amy telling him about it. He’d grown comfortable with his place between Amy and Kevin, as friends.
“Mind sharing that or do I have to get my own?” he asked jokingly, nodding towards the vodka bottle in Kevin’s hand. “Where’s Ams?” he added glancing around, he figured she wasn’t much of a party person, but if Kevin went he was sure he’d have invited Amy, that is if they were still together. Neither of them had suggested anything otherwise in the letters. “So, is everyone ready for the new school year?” he asked trying to make conversation, but still felt slightly awkward.

"Don't... don't worry about it," Adelle said quickly while picking herself up from the sofa, about to walk away before Ioan started with the cleaning charms. She didn't want him all up in her space trying to help, but... there he was. Adelle almost said something snarky to him, but thought better of it; her insane personal space issues weren't Ioan's fault, after all.
Nodding when he recalled her name correctly, she leaned gently against the arm of the sofa. She took the time to think carefully about his question -- what did Adelle enjoy about these parties, really? She liked getting high, sometimes. She liked the music when it didn't suck (though it often did). She liked trying to guess who among the attendants had contracted chlamydia, and who was most likely going to. And, well, she liked seeing her terribly unrequited crush. Finally, Adelle answered, "Aah.... the people, the parties, it doesn't really matter. I'm just waiting for my Daisy Buchanan, you know?" She smiled lightly, making a Great Gatsby reference that was probably just a little too vague and cryptic for anyone to know what she was really talking about.
Adelle flicked her lighter a few times and glanced back up at Ioan. "You smoke?" she asked, angling her head towards the door. She'd be a lot more comfortable with the whole... polite conversation thing if she could be out in the cool night air, with something to occupy her restless hands.
