Name: Billie Louisa Fry
Nicknames: Her parents call her 'Lady Day', as in the nickname of her namesake Billie Holiday. She occasionally goes by Bill or Fry.
Blood: Muggleborn
Age: 20
Year: Graduated
Appearance: Billie has long brown hair that she tends to wear loose, or else tied back with a ribbon. She's small, but blessed with more that enough in the way of curves: it bothered her when she was younger, but she's grown comfortable in her skin. Billie wears hoop earrings most days, is very into nail polish and tends to dress in loud patterns and bright colours.
Personality: Billie is an overly earnest, optimistic activist who believes strongly in being outspoken and straightforward. She's brave and feisty, sticks to her guns, and genuinely loves doing a good job and getting things done. Billie is sweet and supportive; there's not a cynical bone in her body. She cares a lot about female bonding and empowerment. Nothing bothers her more than girls calling each other 'sluts/slags' or shaming each other's choices. (Come on, people, have we learned nothing from Tina Fey in Mean Girls?!) Billie is kind of a goofball, totally unconcerned about coming off as 'hip' or 'cool'. She dreams of being Minister for Magic someday.
The most significant aspect of Billie's personality is that EVERYTHING is important to her. If she decides to attend a public forum on the thickness of cauldron bottoms, she'll make cauldron bottoms the most pressing matter in her life at that moment. If a first year needs her help, she'll drop everything to help them. She lives for new causes and projects! She can be bossy and overbearing: Billie honestly believes that she should be in charge everything ever, often at the expense of other people's opinions.
Billie gets sort of anxious when things don't work out the way they're supposed to. She always has a 'just in case', a series of convoluted backup plans for every totally implausible scenario.
Background: Billie was born on the 4th of October, 1992 to a pair of artists: her father is a pianist and composer, her mother an outspoken feminist poet and occasional painter. She loves her parents dearly, but they are very flaky and her living situation was always less-than-stable. The Frys have always been plagued with money problems, and have lived in various abodes overrun by random bohemians. They never married and flat-out don't believe in the institution (Billie's heard a lot of rants to this effect over the years). The family lived in Paris for a bit during Billie's childhood, but moved back to Swansea when she was eight. Her older sister Sadie (23) is a somewhat self-centered classical stage actress, beautiful and talented but a touch unreliable. Billie is very much the sensible glue that holds her family together.
She feels a particular kinship with her dad due to shared musicianship, but struggles to connect with him as much as she'd like. He's an eccentric genius obsessed with his craft at the expense of everything else. Billie's dad is a very cool, interesting guy, still -- lots of her friends have crushes on him.
Other:
- Billie supports the Holyhead Harpies. They're STRONG WOMEN and they're from WALES, so she's pretty much obligated to do so.
- She's a vegetarian.
- She plays tenor saxophone proficiently; she learned from members of her dad's band when she was growing up. Billie is a real-life Lisa Simpson, basically.
