Name: Elena Ingrid Biermann
Nicknames: Elle, Ella
Blood: muggleborn
Age: 19 (b-day 18th February, 1994)
Appearance: A dark haired beauty, Elena has long chocolate brown hair which usually falls in disheveled waves down her back or is tied up in a messy bun. She has fair skin, and deep brown eyes that can appear as if they can see into your soul and right through whatever transparent walls you put up. Her style of dress tends towards the alternative, the vintage, and the ‘I-don’t-give-a-fuck-what-you-think.’ She is the ballsiest, most badass girl you will ever meet. Her defining feature, other than her big eyes and full lips which she tends to quirk around into various expressions of misanthropy, are the long, thick eyelashes that flank her eyes. They appear so long some assume she wears false eyelashes. Elena isn’t afraid to play with fashion, bold colors, or statement pieces, and she does like her makeup, brightly colored and all. Lately she has been going a bit more minimalistic, but there is always that dash of color in her berry pink lip gloss, or ruby red lipstick, or a simple swish of blue mascara. As of recent she has been leaning towards more gossamer eye-shadows and a strong black cat-eye with black mascara but she does enjoy a pop of color. Elena would prefer wearing dresses over trousers and a t-shirt any day of the week, but abhorring labels she wouldn’t call herself a girly-girl. When asked what she would call herself she replies dryly, “Elena."
Personality: Calm, disorderly and utterly, not normal, Elena was always a do-it-yourself kind of girl. She’s not one to conform to conventional norms, and was never or will ever be considered a follower. From the day she was born Elena was stubborn, about everything. If someone didn’t want her to do something, their lack of enthusiasm on the subject would make her more interested and likely to break the rules or at the very least bend them. She has a knack for talking her way out of nearly everything and making it seem right. Parents and Professors assume her an angel because she knows how to act good and polite around adults.
Not one for subtly or making sneaky little innuendos, she’s very intellectual and loves pointing out the irony in everything with her acerbic wit. The only thing her brother and she have in common is their dry, deadpan sense of humour, though hers can take a turn for the sarcastic and slightly random. Some consider her a bit of a rebel, misfit with her head-strong demeanor, misanthropy, and occasional abuse of curse words. As well as sometimes finding a deeper meaning to life through spliff or some other form of getting stoned, and being a bit of a slut on the account that she likes to sleep with everyone while carrying herself with pride. She is very spirited and constantly opinionated, but can be a lot of fun. She has a tendency of stepping on other people’s toes with her blunt and straightforward-about-everything nature, but rarely apologises for “telling the truth,” or what more polite types wouldn’t mention. If she goes too far however she will apologise.
Elena is all about individuality and expressing herself, either philosophically or physically. She loves making big emotional displays (that in all honesty is just another way to freak her brother out, and embarrass him completely). A hipster, she also likes to wear ironic tee-shirts, very alternative, vintage, and bordering on indie clothing, and quote novels or pop-culture mostly to get a rise out of people. Anything dark, bright or shocking that is guaranteed to label her an “outcast” is perfect. Ironically she hates labels, and standards, and doesn’t believe that people should be defined into neat little boxes. She is quick on her feet and sharp, she thinks outside the box. Outside the box is where she lives. She has the surprising ability, for all her talk of misanthropy, to see the potential in everyone. And sometimes, just sometimes, she tells them so. Elena really does have a very big heart; there are only a select few who truly get to see how much she cares.
Background: The Biermann family is very solidly working-class. Elena was raised by a single father; her mother died in a car accident when she was young and she doesn't remember much about her, although her father tells her that she looks more and more like her mother every day. She has two older siblings (Justin 17). The Biermanns typically had just enough money to scrape by, but are all very close, caring and functional. She was raised Catholic, and while she has her doubts about the whole religion thing, she still attends church regularly out of respect for her father. Her father and she are very close. They never have to say much to get their point across. Growing into a woman however, has set some unspoken boundaries they just don’t cross like boyfriends, and sex talks.
A very strong part of her is certain she was adopted, a little detail her father failed to mention throughout the course of her lifetime. This theory has been supported by the fact that she is nothing like her family, all straight-laced, do-gooders wanting to save the world. The latter is fairly untrue, she too has an almost compulsive want to save any downtrodden person or thing that crosses her path, and inevitably by showing them how bloody brilliant they are she’ll save the world one person or thing at a time.
After graduating Hogwarts Elena became and Unspeakable and worked at the Ministry of Magic. No one really knew about this of course. She worked at a coffee shop a few days a week to keep up appearances. Now, at age 20, the pressure of being an unspeakable has caught up with her. She wanted to do something to actively protect the wizarding world, but being locked in a dungeon-like area of the Ministry was not exactly what she had in mind. Instead she turned to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to become an Auror. With her exceptional work as an Unspeakable and the level of trust that was gained, the Ministry viewed her as a great asset and easily accepted her into the new recruits. She finds it strangely ironic that just as her brother got out of being an Auror she decided to go into it.
Characteristics: A girl with lots of quirks, Elena enjoys being very scientific about things some of the time, such as naming muscles of the body, or emotions. An escapist, her Divination’s Professor made the excuse that her somewhat ‘bad-habits’ stem from the fact she was born an Aquarius on the cusp of Pisces, however Elena prefers her sometimes unpredictable, contrary and detached point of view. She is very open minded and can’t understand why people resist change, when she thinks it’s the only constant in life. She’s exceptionally frugal and doesn’t see the point in spending lots of Galleons when a handful will do. Elena is surprisingly patient, and isn’t easily angered, unless someone is ridiculing her family. She likes reading, music, Transfiguration, DADA, embarrassing people, and Herbology.
Other: The only thing her brother and she can agree on is that all the problems in the world can be settled over a nice pint. She believes lack of communication is one of the world’s biggest problems. She has a black cat named Avery and a regal looking little black owl with a sort of silvery sheen that thinks he’s a lot bigger than he really is named Terpsichore (meaning light in Latin) but she simply calls him Thor.
